Public Holiday for the Royal Wedding — 2011 April 29th

On November 23rd 2010, it was announced (page 142 of 175) that a public holiday will occur on April 29th, 2011 on the occasion of the marriage of HRH Prince William and Ms. Catherine Middleton. These arrangements have been confirmed for England, Wales and Scotland and it is expected that they will also apply to Northern Ireland.

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Holiday

On January 5th 2010, a statement on the Queen's Diamond Jubilee was made by the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills. It stated that the late May Bank Holiday on Monday May 28th 2012 will be moved forwards by one week to Monday June 4th 2012 and that Tuesday June 5th 2012 is to be declared a one-off bank holiday thus creating a four day break to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. These changes apply to England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

St. Andrew's Day Holiday

An addendum to the Astronomical & Calendarial Sheets for 2007 to 2012 inclusive is available regarding the introduction of the St. Andrew's Day Holiday by the Scottish Government in order to promote a national celebration of Scottish identity. The St. Andrew's Day Bank Holiday (Scotland) Act 2007 inserts an extra paragraph into the Banking and Financial Dealings Act (1971)(c.80) for St. Andrew's Day (November 30th). It does not automatically create an additional day off work or school.

Full details may be found at the Scottish Government web site.
